Nursery - The River Dove

Welcome to Nursery - The River Dove

We are curious little learners who are enjoying our nursery experience at Meadow Farm Primary School. Take a look through our page to find out important information and what we have been doing whilst at nursery.

Curriculum for the Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception)

Our nursery environment is carefully planned to meet the outcomes of the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS) and inspires little learners by motivating and encouraging them to explore new experiences and share their achievements with their peers.

The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum sets the standards for the learning, development and care of your child from birth to 5 years.  It is based on seven areas of learning with each area having a set of Early Learning Goals.

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and language
  • Mathematical
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the world
  • Physical development
  • Expressive arts and design

What we have been learning:

I went to visit a farm one day ...

This half term we have been learning all about different animals on the farm. We have talked about the names of the different animals that we might find on a farm and the different sounds they make. We have looked at some of the jobs that a farmer might do around the farm and the different produce we might get from farm animals. The children have enjoyed sharing the story 'Farmer Duck' and 'The Little Red Hen' and have enjoyed acting these stories out. The children have really enjoyed our 'Farm shop' role play where they have had the opportunity to buy farm shop items using real money.

Please see our Spring 2 topic web which will tell you about some of the other things the children have been learning about.
