Year 1- Sarah Storey

Our Class Olympian:

Sarah Storey

Sarah Storey is a British Paralympic athlete. She has represented Great Britain at a whopping eight Paralympic games, starting when she was just 15 years old. Initially, Sarah began her Paralympic career as a swimmer, where she won several Paralympic medals and world titles. In 2005, Sarah moved sports to cycling. To this day, she has won fourteen Paralympic GOLD medals! Despite not having a functioning left hand, Sarah has inspired us to be more like her. We want to aim high, by overcoming any hurdles or difficulties that we may face, just like Sarah.

Autumn 1

I'm Making History!

We have settled in brilliantly with our new rules and routines! Mrs Millhouse and I are extremely proud of all the children!

This half term our history focus is all about ourselves, our families and our local communities. We began the half term by looking at ourselves, and how we have changed since we were younger! We had such fun playing "Guess the baby"! After this, we looked at our family tree and who we live with. We've learnt that families come in all different shapes and sizes, but our families love us all equally. Next we looked at our local community, where we enjoyed designing and making Asda, Aldi, Nottingham Road Fire Station and St Mary's Church using the wooden blocks. Using our local community as a starting point, we spoke about different jobs people may do to help us, such as doctors, policemen and firemen.
