Pupil Premium is an additional sum of money given to schools for each child who qualifies for free school meals or has parents in the Armed Forces (Services).
The money is spent on providing those children with the same opportunities as those from more affluent backgrounds, ensuring that birth and social background do not hold young people back from achieving their potential. Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit but are accountable for how they have used it to close the educational gaps for vulnerable pupils. From September 2012, schools are required to publish how they have use the Pupil Premium.
For those pupils who are working below age related expectations or are not making expected progress, a range of strategies are put in place; this may include support within class or intervention strategies.
Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate our funding.
